Announcement With his enterprise The Word Company, Adib Fricke dedicates himself to words. Besides creating words that have no meaning (which he calls protonyms) and working with 'units consisting of words', in recent projects Fricke has archived fragments of communication culled from the Internet. On the sites from which the text is sourced, relationships of many kinds are enacted and longings displayed – the fragments of text becoming quotations of every day communication. The artist explores the immense World Wide Web with programs developed by himself and in the anonymity of these websites he finds something very personal that can only be shown openly here. The boundaries between truth and fiction are very unstable and the communication fragments taken out of their context lead to new connotations and to a new language. Together with the projects Jam from Mexico and You Can Dump Me the current project Can I Feel Your Magic? constitutes a trilogy of works that use text fragments found on the internet.
